Popular Jamaican artist and performer ”Popcaan” is trending on social media after a photo of him smoking marijuana (weed) whiles being watched and guarded by a police officer.
The viral pictures captures the artist showing off an illicit substance adjacent to an official of the law. The smoking of pot in broad daylight or private is illicit in Ghana yet the Jamaican artist has visited the motherland twice to openly smoke the illegal drug and walk around for free.
Some social media commentators who saw the picture got angry and communicated how the performer could be permitted to stroll about openly while having cannabis. They portrayed the law as being one-sided towards outsiders and being cruel on residents.
Some social media commentators referred to the instance of Kwaw Kese who was tested and imprisoned for having weed openly as an illustration to support their claims.
They requested that the law follow through to its logical end and make an illustration of the performer in order to deflect others from rehashing similar activities on our motherland.
