No Gov’t Has Been Able To Defeat Corruption Before Independence Till Now-Kwaku Baako To Catholic Bishops

Famous political analyst Abdul Malik Kwaku Bako has said that no government can boldly say it has been able to defeat corruption even before independence till date.

The Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading guide, Mr. Kwaku Baako made this comment while reacting to a comment made by the President of Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference most Rev. Philip Naameh who accused the current government of failing to protect the public purse like it promised.

The President of the Catholic Bishop Conference Most Rev. Philip Naameh speaking at the 2021 plenary assembly of the association in the Capital town of Upper West Region, Wa he said although poverty is staring at Ghanaians it appears lost to the leaders.

“Though poverty stares us in the face, it appears lost to those with power”. The expressed commitment of the president of the republic to protect the public purse – a promise that citizens welcomed – seems to be an illusion now”, he stated.

“Are those managing the public purse not concerned about [the] waste and misapplication of resources that belong to all Ghanaians?” Mr Naameh asked.

Mr. Baako who was reacting to comment from the most rev. Philip Naameh said he doesn’t think there is any government before independence till now who can say they have been able to defeat corruption.

”I don’t think there is anybody in this country . . . who will say we have fought and defeated corruption. I don’t think so. We are making efforts. Whilst we’re making efforts, new challenges emerge, he said.
