Antoine Griezmann Was Never The Player Barcelona Needed- Club President Juan Laporta Says After Pushing The Player To Atletico Madrid On Loan

President of Barcelona football club, Joan Laporta has finally admitted that Antoine Griezmann was ‘not the player the club required’ and didn’t squeeze into their framework after the sensational playmaker was sent back to his previous club Atletico Madrid on loan.

Antoine Griezmann joined Barcelona for a whopping £108million in 2019, yet battled to impress in quite a number of matches notwithstanding scoring 35 goal in 102 games which includes 20 for all games last season.

Griezmann became a basic player of the team and the club were anxious to cut his faltering £300,000 per-week salary off their compensation bill in the midst of their continuous monetary crisis.

Addressing TV station Onze, Laporta said the move at last didn’t work out yet said he was unable to blame Griezmann’s disposition and hailed him as an ‘extraordinary player’.

This is what Laporta had to say;

”I think that everyone was expecting more from him, because he gave everything and didn’t have a questionable attitude. We know what kind of player he was and is, he’s a great player. I think he didn’t fit in our system, but I think he showed a very good attitude. I sent him a message wishing him well, because he’s always had the correct attitude.

In footballing terms he wasn’t the player we needed. He scored goals, I think the one he scored in last year’s Copa del Rey that we won was very important but it’s true that he could have given more but he was under difficult circumstances.”

Griezmann had this to say after making a reurn to Atletico Madrid;

”Dear Culers. I say goodbye thank you for your love. I gave everything for the shirt sine I have been involved with this great club and I am sad that I could not enjoy more of you in the stand, but proud to have been one of you.”

Meanwhile, top stars like Thiago Silva, Fred, Fabinho, Emiliano Martinez, Gabriel Jesus and five others have been banned by FIFA from playing for their clubs during premier league games for the next 5 days.

FIFA’s regulations expresses that players can be precluded for any club games five days following the international break should the fail to release them to represent their motherland.

The decision made on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 by FIFA comes after the Brazilian FA forced FIFA to summon this standard on all Brazilian players playing in the Premier League as all the English clubs collectively made a deal to avoid sending their players to a ‘red-list country’ referring to chance of contracting Covid-19, adding that the time it’ll take for the players to isolate upon appearance from International obligation.

With this activity , the Brazilian FA have taken a chance with the fury of the English clubs by forcing a ‘five-day limitation’ on the players they called up for their World Cup qualifiers this week.

The news implies Liverpool are set to be without Alisson, Fabinho and Roberto Firmino for their game at Leeds on Sunday, while Raphinha will be absent for the home side.

Man City will be without Gabriel Jesus and goalkeeper Ederson while Manchester United will be without Fred. Curiously, Everton are permitted to choose Richarlison for their next game as the club has great contact and relationship with the Brazilian FA.
