A former Aide to the First Lady of the Republic, Rebecca Akufo-Addo, Akosua Manu has waded in the conversation regarding salaries due First and Second Lady.
According to her the allowances which was allocated to the First Lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo is well deserving.
After government’s decision to pay the First Lady salaries, most Ghanaians criticized the decision as many feel the country is in a situation where more pressing issues needs to be addressed.
Rebecca Akufo-Addo on Monday July 12th 2021 announced that she will reject the salaries as well as refund the monies paid her since Nana Akufo Addo assumed office.
Speaking on Starr FM, the NYA deputy CEO said the allowances paid Rebecca Akufo-Addo ”are absolutely well-deserved because nobody carved out her role but by being married to the President, people will expect that you help”.
She went on to say that bringing the First Lady’s image down for the sake of propaganda will be unfair adding that Ghanaians should ask themselves how many people the First Lady has helped.
