The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described President Muhammudu Buhari’s government as ‘a sanctuary of corruption’.
This comes following rumours that President Buhari has the plans. to promote Ibrahim Magu, acting Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission his accusations for corruption and abuse of office.
The party made its point known in a statement signed by the party’s spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan dubbed ‘Reported Proposed Promotion for Magu Shows Buhari’s Presidency is Condoning Corruption.
According to the party, Buhari’s plans to promote Magu as the Assistant Inspector General of Police despite being indicted in the alleged stealing of billions of Naira recovered by the EFCC as well as cases of abuse of office is a direct slap on the sensibilities of Nigerians.
The statement further said that instead of Buhari’s administration allowing the law to take its cause on wrong doers, its rather rewarding corruption by reportedly planning to promote an individual accused for stealing.
The statement added that it is inviting Nigerians to take note of how Buhari has failed to discipline Magu as recommended by the Salami panel.
