Grandfather Arrested For Tying 6-Year-Old Boy To A Mango Tree Over GHS50

Three persons including a grandfather have been arrested for having a hand in an humane treatment meted on a 6-year-old boy in the Birim North District of the Eastern Region of Ghana.

In a video fast circulating online, the little boy is seen with his hands tied with a wire to the root of the mango tree and left there to himself.

Reports indicates that the little boy was tied there from 8am in the morning until 5PM when he was released after a resident reported the issue to the police in the area.

The little boy was said to have suffered this cruel and inhumane treatment after his grandfather on Sunday claimed his Ghs50.00 was missing and accused the 6-year-old of stealing it of which he denied.

He then ordered some two other people in the house to tie the boy to the mango tree on his compound.

According to Abirim District Police Commander, DSP Peter Ofori Donkor said someone informed the police of the incident at about 3:00PM the same day and the police was sent to the scene to rescue the victim immediately.

The victim was sent to the Hospital and was discharged the following day.
