The number of accolades won by an artist is one measure of how successful their music career has been. Some of the artists in this category have achieved immense success, adding their names to a lengthy list of national and international honours and acclaim.

Nigeria is the best-performing African country in terms of entertainment (namely, music), producing music that inspires people all over the world to nod or twitch to the rhythm.

The top five includes;

  1. Wizkid

Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun (born 16 July 1990), known professionally as Wizkid is a Nigerian artist who has received several international honours. A prominent figure in the modern-day Afrobeats music scene, Wizkid is regarded as one of the biggest and most influential African artists of all time.He has the most nominations for Bet Awards of any African.He is also a recipient of an ASCAP plaque for his songwriting contributions to Drake’s “One Dance”, which also earned two Guinness World Records, for being the first song to reach a billion streams on Spotify, and at the time being the most streamed song on Spotify. Wizkid was cited as one of the Top 100 most influential Africans by New African magazine in 2019. He is also the most awarded artist in The Headies award history. He was nominated in the Best Global Music Album and the Best Global Music Performance categories in the 64th Annual Grammy Awards for Made in Lagos Deluxe Edition and “Essence” respectively.In November 2021, Apple Music Awards announced him as the winner of Artist of the Year (Africa)

2. Burnaboy

Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu (born 2 July 1991), known professionally as Burna Boy is without a doubt one of the most well-known artists in Africa. The African colossus has had tremendous success both inside Africa and on a worldwide scale. Burna Boy has been nominated for eight international awards over his career. He has, however, won six international awards out of eight nominations.

3. Tiwa Savage

Tiwatope Omolara Savage (born 5 February 1980), known professionally as Tiwa Savage and has also been called the Queen of Afrobeats.She won the Best African Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards, becoming the first female singer from Nigeria to do so. Tiwa Savage has received 20 accolades and has been nominated for 70 more, and she seems eager for more.

4. D’banj

Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo (born 9 June 1980), better known by his stage name D’banj is well known for his contributions to the African music industry. D’banj, gained popularity after his debut album No Long Things was released (2005).He has won several music awards, including the awards for Best African Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2007,Artist of the Year at the MTV Africa Music Awards 2009,Best International Act: Africa at the 2011 BET Awards, and Best-selling African Artist at the 2014 World Music Awards, Evolution award at the 2015 MTV Africa Music awards.

5. Davido

David Adedeji Adeleke OON (born November 21, 1992), who is professionally known as Davido is one of the most celebrated musicians in Nigeria.Davido had won more than 100 prestigious accolades from various African nations for a variety of reasons.As of December 2017, he had garnered 109 awards from over 150 nominations. He has received BET Awards, Kora Awards, Channel O Music Video Awards, Ghana Music Awards, Nigeria Music Video Awards, two MTV Africa Music Awards, two African Muzik Magazine Awards, five The Headies Awards, seven Nigeria Entertainment Awards, two Dynamix All Youth Awards, and four BillBoards Awards.
