The National Communication officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Sammy Gyamfi has accused the ruling New Patriotic Party and its government of using covid-19 as an excuse to embezzle funds.
Speaking in an interview on Angel FM he noted that the Akufo-Addo led administration has used Covid-19 as an excuse to extort monies from the ordinary Ghanaian.
He mentioned the imposition of borla taxes on fuel as well as covid-19 taxes on import duties as some of the means of excuting their agenda.
Sammy Gyamfi who couldn’t fathom on the brain behind the imposition of covid-19 taxes asked whether government will use money acquired from it to buy the sputnik vaccines to inject items being imported in the country.
He stressed that through covid-19 the government of the day has gotten financial assistance from foreign NGOs yet it blames covid-19 for being the cause of hardship in recent times.
