The Presidential candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2020 general election, John Mahama has told the President of Ghana, Nana Addo not to just create regions in name only.
According to him those regions that are been called as regions must be so because they are worthy of being called regions. He believes the President must start developing those regions he created.
He made this comment while speaking in North East as part of his thank you tour which is purported to thank all Ghanaians for voting for him in the just ended 2020 general election.
“You cannot just create regions in name. The regions must be worthy of being called regions. And it is infrastructure that makes a region a region.”
He stressed that; “If you go to Tamale you will know that this is the Northern Region, if you go to Bolga you know that this is the Upper East Region. If you come to Nalerigu it is a shadow of a region”, he said. “We don’t only need the regional boundaries to be re-drawn; we need regional infrastructure so that when you come you will say yes, this is the North East Region,” he added.
Meanwhile, Mr. Koku Anyidoho has given the General Secretary of the NDC, 72 hours to reverse his expulsion and also add the recommendation of the Disciplinary committee against him.
