Louis Van Gaal Appointed As Netherlands Coach For The 3rd Time

The Netherlands have officially reappointed Louis van Gaal as their new manager until the very end of 2022.

Louis Van Gaal is once again taking up the job as Netherlands manager for a third time frame, having led his country from 2000 to 2001 and from 2012 to 2014. Van Gaal who is currently 69-years of age will see to it that his country qualifies for the 2022 World Cup, with his agreement running until the competition in Qatar has ended.

Louis Van Gaal replaces Frank de Boer, who left his job following the Netherlands’ humiliating defeat to the Czech Republic in the last 16 of Euro 2020 this spring. Louis Van Gaal equally led the Netherlands to a third place in the 2014 World Cup, with their great run including a 3-0 success over Brazil and a 5-1 thrashing of Spain.

This is what Van Gaal had to say to the Dutch FA’s website;

”Dutch football has always been close to my heart and national coaching is in my view a key position for the further advancement of our football. Moreoever, I consider it an honor to coach the Dutch national team.

There is little time for the next qualifying matches, which are immediately crucial for participation in theWorld Cup. The focus is therefore immediately 100% in the players and the approach. After all, I was appointed for that. It is good to be back. By now I have already spoken to a number of players and the technical staff has been put together.

I am very much looking forward to getting the job done together”.
