We Shot To Maim After Some Protestors Fired Shots-General Joseph Aphour

General Officer Commander of Central Command, Brigadier General Joseph Aphour, the military who were deployed to restore order in Ejura had no option than to fire protestors during the Ejura disturbance after some people fired shot from within the protestors.

Meanwhile earlier claims had it that none of the protestors had guns on them apart from stones and sticks and so this from General Aphour is the first of its kind.

While he appeared before the 3-member committee, General Joseph Aphour said earlier when the military got to the town they resorted to verbal warnings but the protestors refused to pay heed to it.

He noted that the warning shots from the military was just to scare the protestors so the military can control the situation but gunshots were heard from within the protestors.

Per briefing given him by his officers on the field, General Aphour said two people were arrested with their weapons and handed to the police but a confirmation is yet to come from the police on this.

He added that the Miliatry only fired at protestors who fired at the Military personnel hjust to maim and not kill.
