A fetish priest and 6 other people have been apprehended by Police in the Volta Region which is in relation to the kidnap and murder of a 12-year-old boy identified as Cornelius.
The incident was said to have taken place at Nornyikpo, a village near Ziope in the Agotime-Ziope district of the Volta Region.
The Volta Regional Police Commander, DCOP Edward Oduro Kwanteg, narrating the story said one Mary Amewonu reported to the Kpetoe police that her grandson Cornelius Negble (now deceased) had gone missing at Nornyikpo on 22nd May 2021. As a result, the Kpetoe police immediately commenced investigations into the incident.
Mr. Oduro said some village folks arrested a man named Senanu Ashitor Attippoe and handed over to the police to help investigations after suspecting him to be the brain behind the little boy’s disappearance.
After interrogating the suspect, Senanu Ashitor, the police found out that he had kidnapped and killed the boy with the help of two other people in the persons of Anani Koko and Morris. They were said to have killed him for rituals at a shrine in Akatsi North District.
A police team was deployed for the arrest of the other suspect at the shrine on 26th May 2021 but the police was greeted with the absence of all suspects.
Again the police team went with Environment health officials on May 31 to arrest the suspects and they found the head of the boy buried in one of the rooms while the remaining body that was infested with maggots was in a sack. Some vital parts of the boy were all removed after the body were retrieved.
Three more of the suspects were later apprehended by the police they are ;Kudzo Akpatsu, Kwamevi Kagbetor, and Louis Etsey.
All the suspects are Senanu Ashitor Attipoe, 28, Kunor Kofi also known as Ando Kofi, 30, Anani Koko, 23, Kwamevi Kagbetor, 37, Louis Etsey, 25, Kudzo Akpatsu 49 and Sandema Fianyor also 49.
