Liverpool star forward Mohamed Salah has received an offer from Saudi Arabian champions Al-Ittihad that would make him the world’s highest paid player above Cristiano Ronaldo. According to reports, The Saudi Arabian club are ready to offer the Egyptian superstar a deal that would eclipse the £173 million-per-year salary of Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr.
Salah’s future at Liverpool has been called into question on multiple occasions this summer, despite repeated denials of a departure from his agent Ramy Abbas Issa. However, it has been previously reported that Salah sees himself joining the Saudi top flight in the summer of 2024.
However, according to Sports Zone, Al Ittihad are now confident of bringing Salah to the Gulf State before the end of this summer’s transfer window, which in Saudi Arabia, closes on 20th September. Progress has reportedly been made to bring the Egyptian international to Al Ittihad this summer, and whilst nothing has been concluded, there is increased optimism that a deal can be done. Salah has started both of Liverpool’s Premier League games this season, notably scoring in a 3-1 victory against Bournemouth last weekend.
Reports say, the player’s religious beliefs are a key part of his thinking, with Islam the official religion of Saudi Arabia. However, luring the player from Liverpool is surely going to be far from straight forward with the Premier League season already underway.
With the Premier League’s transfer deadline on Friday, September 1, Liverpool will have precious little time to replace their talisman, even if they should receive an offer that could tempt them into selling.
