After breaking into the Manhyia Hospital in the Ashanti Region and allegedly attacking a nurse who had reportedly mistreated his daughter, a doctor there, Mr. Opoku-Mensah was suspended.
The National Service Scheme (NSS) has suspended Alex Opoku-Mensah, the Ashanti Regional Director, with immediate effect.
The decision was made on November 30 following an emergency meeting between Mr. Opoku-Mensah and the administration of the Scheme, according to a statement from the NSS.
The statement said, “The management has decided to allow further investigation into the alleged verbal assault on a nurse on duty at the Manhyia Government Hospital in Kumasi.
A group made up of representatives from the National Service Scheme, the Public Services Commission, and the Ministry of Education has been established in the interim. The committee’s task is to investigate the issue and submit a report to NSS Management within a month.
Mr. Opoku-Mensah will address the Committee on Monday, December 5, 2022.
