Nana Addo Respects Chiefs; Didn’t Deliberately Denigrate Torgbui Fiti-Buaben Asamoah

The NPP’s Communication Director Yaw Buaben Asamoah has expressed his views on the controversial response President Nana Akufo-Addo gave in reaction to Torgbui Fiti’s call for an E-block in his area to be completed.

Torgbui Fiti had given the government of the day a four-month ultimatum to a complete the Community Day School in his area since it had been stalled since 2016.

The President reacting to the chief’s call asked him (chief) to amass resources himself and complete the project if he feels he is tired of government’s pace.

This sparked massive debate with many people from the Volta Region especially MP’s calling on the President to apologize to the Chief over his response.

Okudzeto Ablakwa in a post on Facebook asked the President to apologize to the Chief and the people of Volta Region for his comment.

Mr. Yaw Buaben in an interview on Starr Chat hosted by Nana Aba Anamoah stated that he doesn’t see any reason why the President should apologize to the Chief noting that the government has invested so much in education especially Secondary Schools.

“I don’t think President Akufo-Addo will deliberately denigrate a chief in public. That’s why I don’t think there is a need for an apology. I don’t think the President should apologize. Perhaps the questioner put it in a way that made it look like an ultimatum. I don’t think the President will insult a chief on radio”, he told Nana Aba.

“This is not an arrogant posture. The President listens. We have nine brand new secondary schools ongoing. We have put existing secondary schools across the country with over 500 structures,” he added.
