Car Loan: We Are Not In Parliament For Ourselves-Okudzeto Ablakwa

NDC MP, Samuel Okodzeto Ablakwa has said that owing to the $28million car loan for members of Parliament it has been made to look as though the Parliamentarians are in Parliament purposefully for their own gains and not the constituencies they represent.

Hon. Ablakwa is one of the few MPs asking their colleagues to reject the loan facility but some have criticize his stand stating that he is being hypocritical.

MP for Temale Central, Murtala Mohammed reacting to Ablakwa’s position as well as the loan facility is concerned asked him to return the two cars he bought from the loan for lawmakers if he is indeed principled.

He described the North Tongu MP’s position on the $28million loan facility as being hypocritical.

Meanwhile few days ago disclosed that he and some of his colleague lawmakers are making progress as far as the rejection of $28million loan facility for members of Parliament is concerned.

The MP revealed that he and Patrick Boamah an NPP member of Parliament came together to sponsor a private member’s motion and the Speaker of Parliament has admitted for an urgent debate on the $28million loan.

”Really elated that my colleague NPP MP Patrick Boamah and I cosponsored a private member’s motion which the Rt. Hon. Speaker admitted for urgent debate this week”, he wrote in a tweet.
