The member of Parliament for Temale North, Alhassan Suhuyini is hoping that the Privileges Committee of Parliament will make the laws of the nation deal with Assin Central MP for misconducting himself following a life threats he made against Erastus Asare Donkor.
Suhuyini who is hoping that the Privileges Committee doesn’t handle the issue as partisan stated that Mr. Agyapong enjoyed mercies in the past when he engaged in many infractions in the country but must be dealt with this time.
Mr. Suhuyini, a former broadcaster raised the issue on the floor of Parliament on Wednesday, 14th July 2021 stating that he felt obliged to draw the attention of the house to the conduct of an honorable colleague in Parliament.
”It is my hope that this issue will be looked at differently, and he will be seen as one that has engaged in many infractions and, perhaps, the mercies that he enjoyed previously may not be experienced. I also hope that the Committee will approach this as a national issue and not a partisan issue”, he stated in an interview.
The member of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong has been referred to the Privileges Committee by the speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin following calls from Hon. Suhuyini.
The Speaker of Parliament said he will not make the decision on the matter but the House will make that as to whether its mere allegations or fact that abuse privilege.
Hon. Suhuyini added that the threat from Mr. Agypong to the journalist is a dent on the reputation of Parliament.
