The member of Parliament for Assin Central has allegedly threatened to beat a Erastus Asare Donkor, a Multimedia Group Limited journalist.
The CEO of Ghana Telecommunications Chamber, Dr. Kenneth Ashigbey has reacted to the MP’s alleged threat against the journalist on live television, noting that it is very worrying.
Speaking on JoyNews’ PM Express, he said the journalist’s report on the Ejura chaos cannot be linked to inciting people to engage in more violence since it was a live feed.
Condemning the threat from the member of Parliament, Dr. Ashigbey noted that even if the journalist had done something wrong in his reportage threatening him isn’t the best way forward.
He stressed that Mr. Agyapong’s threat to Erastus that he would have beaten the journalist mercilessly if her were President is completely wrong.
Dr. Ashigbey added that it is very worrying that such an influential person as Mr. Aygapong who is the Chairperson of a very influential Committee of Parliament issuing threats to a journalist.
