The member of Parliament for North Tongu constituency, Okudzeto Ablakwa has waded into the conversation regarding the First Lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo deciding to refund allowances paid her since 2017.
The First Lady of Ghana in a statement noted that she will refund all allowances she received from the state since Nana Addo became President in 2017. She also rejected the emolument approved by parliament to be paid to her.
Reacting to this move by the First Lady, MP for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa says Rebecca’s rejection of the allowances is a mere bait just to look good in the eyes of Ghanaians.
”I do not have any evidence to fall for that bait. What I also know is that payment had already been effected which actually will amount to double payment because they have already received the allowances”, Okudzeto stated.
The North Tongu MP strongly believes the First Lady is just rejecting the allowances to look good and nothing else.
