No Need Attacking MPs Over Car Loan Because They Will Pay Back-Kate Addo

Director of Public Affairs of Parliament, Kate Addo has said that criticisms hurled at MPs over the $28 million car loan to procure vehicles for each one of then is unnecessary.

According to the Director of Public Affairs for Parliament all the criticisms thrown in the direction of the 275 members of Parliament are not needed because they will surely pay the loans.

She justified her point noting that some of the MPs have their constituencies in the rural areas yet they still need access to their constituencies. she stated that at least they need to visit the constituency once a week and needs cars to do so.

She stressed that its not as if the monies given them is for free because that should have called for criticisms but in this situation they are deducted at source.

There has been a public debate on government procuring vehicles for Members of Parliament and later deducting from their emolument. This comes after the Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta presented a loan agreement for $28million to the Parliament of Ghana to be use in purchasing cars for MPS.
