Alexander Wiredu, an ex convict of Sunyani Central Prison has alleged that most fraudulent activities takes place in prions in Ghana.
He stated that the first welcoming inscription in prion is ‘reformation center’ yet the prisons rather makes people to engage in unlawful acts.
He said while in prison, smoking weed was the most commonest thing one could fine as well as prison officers taking bribes from in mates.
He narrated that in prison, an inmate could give the contact number of a relative or friend to another in mate then give details of the said person. This in mate then defraud the fellow by pretending to be a fetish priest or someone in the diaspora bringing money down just to get huge sum of money from the fellow.
When asked how they receive the money, he mentioned that prison officers help them do that after which they take their share.
