Head of Department of Research at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Center (KAIPTC), Professor Kwesi Aning has urged the police to purchase fortified Bullion vans and rent them to banks in Ghana.
He made this comment after the Inspector General of Police directed banks in the country to procure armoured bullion vans by the close of June this year else the police will withdraw from escorting bullion vans carting cash.
The IGP, James Oppong-Boanuh made this comment following the killing of police officer, Emmanuel Osei during a broad day light robbery near Jamestown on Monday June 14, 2021.
Speaking on the Morning Starr show hosted by Francis Abban, Prof. Aning said; “The Police service could have acquired these vans and rented them out to the banks and made money”.
He noted that this action will not only help the banks but the police will also generate revenue from it.
In other news, Benedicta Abena Sarpong, wife of Nana Osei Prempeh Agyemang has been shot dead by unknown gun men at Joefel Restaurant in Dichem, a suburb of Kumasi.
