Hawkers Threaten To Return To Madina Street After Gov’t Failed To Provide Them Sheds

Hawkers who sell second hand clothes and other products on pavements at Madina have said that they have decided to move from Redco market back to the roadside to do business due to government failure to provide them sheds in the market.

According to the traders, the Redco market gets flooded anytime it rains, thus not making them able to make good sales there.

Speaking to Adom TV in an interview the traders said government do not build structures or sheds for them in the market. They also said portions of land that was given to them by government wasn’t enough.

They added that the market gets flooded anytime it rains making them unable to make enough sales.

The hawkers also alleged that in 2018, when they were asked to move to the Redco market they obliged but the conditions they requested from government were not met so they decided to go back to the street to sell.

Some traders selling in the Redco market called on their colleagues to come to the market and sell.
