Many Feared Dead As Fulani Herdsmen Attack Igangan Community, Burns Chief’s Palace

Suspected Fulani herdsmen have attacked Igangan community, Oyo State and have killed about 20 people, burn down chief’s palace as well as a petrol station.

This comes six days after after the chairman of Amotekun Corps in Oyo State, General Adjibola Togun (retd) raised the alarm that some foreign herders were about to attack six States in the South West.

The gunmen were said to have invaded the town at midnight, killing and burning houses in the community.

Reports also has it that many vehicles were burnt including a truck loaded with cassava flour and a petrol station was also burnt.

An eye witness said the Fulani herdsmen allegedly started shooting sporadically around 12 midnight on Sunday and not less than 15 people have lost their lives which comprises of hoodlums and residents.

“They burnt many properties- cars, a truck and burnt a petrol filling station. ”We will know the exact number of people killed, those injured and the number of properties they destroyed with time in the morning. It is still dark now things will be clearer later.” the eye witness stated.

Meanwhile calm has been restored in the area again after security personnel were deployed.
