Over 9 Galamsey workers are feared dead after being trapped in a pit at a site called Accra Cite at Talensi in the Northern region of Ghana.
According to reporst following a heavy downpour two days ago in Talensi the rain water filled up the pits in which the galamseyers were working in making it hard for them to come out after they were notified of the weather being cloudy.
Angel FM correspondent explained that some constructors where constructing a road close to where the incident occurred and they blocked a major drainage due to the construction of the road but unfortunately didn’t open the drainage after the work.
He disclosed that the rain water was forced into the galamsey pits because there was no drainage available for the water hence trapping workers in the pit.
He stressed that many politicians are aware about the illegal mining in the area yet have deliberately not stopped it.
