President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Monday, 1st June 2021 stated emphatically that his government is committed to empowering citizens, media and civil society.
Speaking at the African Journalists’ Leaders Conference he indicated that his government will empower citizens, media and civil society so that everyone can play their roles in realizing our vision of building a progressive and prosperous Ghana- a Ghana beyond aid.
”The government I lead remains committed to empowering the citizenry, media and civil society so we can all play our roles of building a progressive and prosperous Ghana-Ghana beyond aid”, he stated
He continued, “As President of Ghana, I assure you that the Ghanaian people will continue to exercise their right to free expression to the very end, because of their determination to build a free, open society with accountable governance, no matter the cost.”
He added that when journalists are physically attacked or prevented from doing their work no matter where in the world it took place then it can be considered media attack which must be roundly condemned by all.
