Abubakar Sani Bello, Governor of Niger State has asked all political appointees who have shown interest running as consensus candidates at all levels of the APC to resign. This directive was announced in a statement issued on Monday by Ahmed Ibrahim Matane. According to Ibrahim the directive was in compliance with the constitution of the APC. He therefore asked those who have been affected to comply with the directive. The APC has scheduled 16th October for its nationwide State Congress for its election.

Niger State Governor Abubakar Sani-Bello has said that actions of bandits will not intimidate the government or the people. According to him they will not sit and watch bandits to change the style of living of the people. He made this comment as he set up the Niger Special Vigilante Corps (NSVC) which comprise of nine vigilante group.
