During a recent visit to the lone working abattoir with the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, a few individuals from ”Clean Up Ghana” constrained the laborers at the Avenor Abattoir to tidy up their space as it was breeding a multitude of flies, hick spirogyra, and open channels with a sharp smell from the excreta of the animals.
The abattoir according to report has been in activity for over twenty years, yet its conditions have been consistently declining.
The Accra Metropolitan Assembly’s endeavors to get it reestablished to meet satisfactory sterilization and clean norms were to no end. At any rate three visits to this slaughterhouse have been directed somewhat recently, with admonitions to its supervisors to ensure adherence to cleanliness.
The laborers in the abattoir allegedly flouted the admonitions of the ecological health workers in their absence.
Madam Florence Kuukyi who doubles as the Director of Public Health at the Accra Metropolitan Assembly disclosed that she has gathered the administrators of the abattoir and begged the court to close down the abattoir however all endeavors has demonstrated pointless.
Indeed, during a prior visit, the specialists were constrained by the authorities of the AMA to tidy up the spot.
