Security Analyst, Paul Boateng has said that one of the main causes of rise in crime in recent times is as a result of unemployment.

Speaking in a phone in session on ‘Maakye’ show hosted by Captain Smart he noted that because many of the youths do not have jobs to do they have resorted to robbery and killing.
He stated that what has worsened the situation is the galamseyers who have added up to the list of unemployment due to a halt in the galamsey operations.
He also mentioned that the availability of guns in the system is also a factor because most of the yong men can readily acquire guns for themselves.
He made this comment while speaking on the security situation in the country in recent times.
