Bad weather threw a monkey wrench into Lionel Richie’s plans to perform at Madison Square Garden in NYC.
As 20,000 fans packed into Madison Square Garden last night ahead of the 7:30 pm start time, many had spent a hefty sum to get tickets, hotels and some even travelling across the country to see Lionel Richie and Earth, Wind & Fire perform on the historical stage as part of their Sing A Song All Night Long tour.
However, at 8:31, the 74-year-old announced that the sold-out show was being canceled as bad weather prevented him from flying into New York.
On Twitter the Dancing on the Ceiling singer wrote: “Due to severe weather and being unable to land in the NY and surrounding areas, I’m unable to make it to the show tonight. I’m so bummed.
“We are rescheduling the show to Monday, Aug 14. Can’t wait to perform for you all. Tickets for tonight’s show are valid for the show on Monday.”
Fans quickly lashed out at the announcement, with many sending photographs of where they were already sitting in the concert hall with thousands around them patiently waiting for the show to start, some also say, they wouldn’t bother to show up on the said date and day of the event and want a refund.
