- Ablakwa tells government to scrap E-levy if government is going to IMF
- IMF bailout is that they wouldn’t allow president akufo-addo obstinately continue with his insensitive waste of the country’s resource.
NDC member of parliament for North Tongu constituency, samuel Okudjeto Ablakwa has urged the npp administration led by Nana akufo-addo to scrap the controversial electronic transaction Levy (E-Levy) because it is going to the international monetary fund (IMF).
The member of Parliament made these comments via his Facebook page where he wrote; ”you gave Ghanaians to options:E-levy or IMF. Having opted for the IMF any honest government will scrape constitutional and repugnant E-levy immediately”.
”Perhaps the only positive outcome of the IMF bailout is that they wouldn’t allow president akufo-addo obstinately continue with his insensitive wasteful oligarchic €20000 luxury jet travels which have caused the suffering taxpayer over 34 million Ghana cedi in 13 months”.
The NDC MP made this comments following the government’s announcement of a decision to go to the IMF for a financial bailout on Friday 2nd July 2022.
Recall that in government bid to convince the ordinary Ghanaian to pay the electronic transaction Levy it stated that the navy will prevent the country from going to the IMF.
A new tweet from Gabby Otchere Darko stated that the estimated 600 million Ghana cedi has not been achieved.
