Ghana Is ‘Broke’, Support E-Levy – Ken Ofori-Atta Tells Ghanaians

The minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta has for the first time admitted that the country is faced with economic hardship.

He noted that currently due to lack of funds the country is unable to embark on developmental project or increase salaries of its workers.

SSpeaking at a Town Hall meeting in Wa on 21st February 2022, he stressed that in order for government to fill revenue gaps and increase development Ghanaians need to embrace the E-Levy.

I look at teachers and civil servants for example, and I will be the first to admit that the salaries are indecent, nobody will argue with that. At the same time, it is 60% of all the revenue we collect from 700,000 people that is also a fact”, the Finance Minister said.
