2022 Budget Approved By Majority As Minority Boycotts Parliament

The Majority in Parliament of Ghana have on Tuesday 30th November 2021 approved the controversial 2022 budget statement following the boycotting of Parliamentary proceedings by the Minority in Parliament after they failed to agree with the Majority on the budget.

The Majority in Parliament indicated that the rejection of the budget on Friday 26th November was unconstitutional but the Minority insisted that due process is followed to reject the budget.

After a series of meeting which yielded no results the Majority and the Executives stood their ground that they will not present a new budget.

The 137 NDC MPs all boycotted Tuesday’s sitting and none registered their names in the attendance book.

According to source the move b the NDC was to stop the Majority from using the first deputy Speaker Joseph Osei Owusu to undo a decision taken by Parliament with Speaker Alban Bagbin presiding to reject the budget.
