Ghanaian economist, Dr Julius Kwaku Katta has advised the Minister of Finance Ken Ofori-Atta make the actual forecast of the current state of the country’s economy and finance.
Dr. Katta who was speaking on the New Day show hosted by Berla Mundi asked the Finance Minister not to distort facts and figures about the economy.
“If I take ten people and among the ten, eight is telling me as an economist that things aren’t well, I take it from that to analyze at the micro level to be able to determine that macroeconomic level.
“Things may be rosy as they may see but the economy is otherwise. Don’t forget when we are distorting the figures, I always say that we have to be discipline enough to tell the truth in measuring our figures . Statically, when the president is going out of the country to talk at the international level, I expect prudent, standard measure of figures.”
The Minister of Finance Ken Ofori-Atta is expected to read the 2022 budget at 10:00 am on Wednesday 17th November 2021.
