The General Secretary of the NPP, John Boadu has said that nobody shall be imposed on the party by anyone to lead the party in the 2024 presidential race.
He revealed that at the right time the party will open nomination forms for persons who are qualified to contest.
He made this comment while reacting to claims that Nana Akufo-Addo is likely to impose a candidate on the party in order to help break the eight year presidential cycle in 2024.
“President Nana Addo cannot impose a flagbearer on the party. Why would he do that, I don’t think he will do that”.
He mentioned that the NPP has a tradition of allowing party candidates to elect their own leader.
“This is not a party that someone can impose a leader on us. Not at all, nobody can do that. We have a tradition,” he stated.
