The new Upper West Regional Police command who has been appointed, Peter Ndekugri has warned all motorbike riders in the region against sitting on one motorbike while they are two or more after 6:30PM or face arrest.
His motive for this move is to curb the rise in crime in Ghana especially in the Upper West Region.
While speaking at a Press Conference in the region following his appointment, the new regional commander stated that he is determined to see to it that peace is restored in the region.
He vowed to continue to pursue peace in the region even if he has to make enemies to see the necessary result.
He stressed that no two me should be seen siting on one motor after 6:30PM because failure to adhere to his regulations, the person will be arrested.
“No two young men should be on a motorbike after 6: 30 pm, I repeat, no two young men should be on a motorbike after 6: 30 pm. Whether you like it or not. Security is very expensive, in Bawku for instance, for two years, men were not riding on motorbikes ad yet we were able to maintain the peace.
“So please we should not take peace as a joke, it is one of the most essential commodities as far as this world is concerned…and I am ready to do that,” he stressed.
