I Intend To Increase The 23% Budget For Education-Says Akufo-Addo

President of Ghana Nana Akufo-Addo has said that though Ghana’s 23% budget for education is the highest on the African continent his administration want to ramp it even more because as the education sector is widened it needs more infrastructure.

“ We intend to ramp it up even more because as you widen access which we have done through primary through secondary with the free senior high school project, which has brought nearly half a million students to secondary system, clearly also you have problems of infrastructure , challenges of classrooms and numbers.

Speaking at the Global Education Summit on Friday July, 30 in London the President said as his government is expanding the number of people to access free education there is a need for to increase infrastructure.

The President stated his government prioritizes education because the economy of the country can be transformed from a raw material producing economy to a value added one.
