The driver of the Tipper Truck which crashed a tollbooth at the Tema Motorway roundabout on Monday 12th July 2021 has revealed the real cause of the accident.
According to the driver, his brakes failed him which resulted in the accident that claimed the life of one person leaving many seriously injured.
The PRO of Ghana Highway Authority, Cecil Obodai has said that contrary to what the driver is saying, he strongly believes the driver was sleeping while driving at a tough speed which made it impossible for him to notice that he was approaching a tollbooth.
He said according to some people around the area where the accident took place, the driver was driving at a tough speed while he was approaching the tollbooth-something he says wouldn’t happen if the driver wasn’t asleep.
He says because the driver was driving at a tough speed while asleep, the brake failed when he woke up at once and tried to applied the brakes.
