A 37-year-old mother and her seven month old baby in Bolgatanga have been killed after a gas tanker with registration number GT 8243-20 run over them on Friday, 9th July 2021.
Two other kids of the same mother were severally injured too in the accident and are currently receiving treatment at the Upper East Regional Hospital in Bolgatanga.
According to the Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) David Fianko-Okyere who happens to be the PRO of the police Command the mortal remains of the deceased, Salamatu Adam has been deposited at the Regional Morgue awaiting autopsy.
He went on to disclosed that the deceased was said to be carrying her seven month old baby, Nabel Sakito at her back while riding a motorbike with registration number M-16-UE-4614, she had two other kids on the same motorbike.
Fortunately those kids are still alive and receiving treatment.
The PRO noted that the young mother was taking her children to school when the unfortunate incident happened at the Zamse Senior Technical School Junction.
DSP Okyere narrated that Salamatu upon hearing the horns of the gas tanker lost control of her motorbike and hit against a tricycle off which she fell off into the lane of the gas tanker which run over she and her baby.
The tanker driver Issah Eliasu and the tricycle rider Yahuza Yahaya have been arrested to assist investigation.
