On Monday 5th July 2021, fire broke out in some shops at the Makola market in Accra burning down many properties.
The real cause of the fire that engulfed the sops were unknown but it has finally being disclosed after several investigation in the matter.
According to the public relations officer, Elis Robinson Okoe of the Ghana National Fire Service a preliminary investigation has been conducted into the Makola fire and after the investigation it was found that a generator belonging to one of the shop owners container fuel sparked the fire that destroyed many things in Accra.
Many angry Ghanaians who were in Accra when the fire began have blamed the Ghana National Service for the damaged caused by the fire.
According to some, the fire service was informed about the menace but it took them more than 30 minuets to arrive at the scene only to inform shop owners that their fire tenders are without water.
