On Sunday, famous singer David Adeleke, aka Davido, paused midway through his performance at the Afronation festival in Detroit, United States, to pay tribute to Mrs. Jane Dolapo Balogun, the mother of his colleague, Wizkid, who died on Friday, August 18, 2023.
Davido stated that he is no stranger to grief, emphasising that he has lost many loved ones, including his mother, Mrs. Veronica Adekunle, who passed away many years ago.
He did, however, say that Wizkid made his mother proud with his musical accomplishments before she died.
“Personally, I have lost so many people in my life,” Davido said to the crowd. And I’d like to express my condolences to my brother, Ayo Balogun Wizkid. May his mother’s soul rest in peace.
“I lost my mother years ago.” But I know that whatever he has done, he has made his mother proud.
