The NDC has endorsed John Dumelo to run for the parliamentary seat in Ayawaso West Wuogon. The endorsement follows the withdrawal of Dumelo’s two competitors in the race due to a “harmonious agreement.
The NDC claimed in a statement that members of its leadership spoke with candidates for Dumelo. The statement read, “We are pleased to inform the General Public that the two other aspirants have graciously accepted to give the nod to Mr. John Dumelo to represent the party after engaging in constructive discussions with all the aspirants and further consultation with the party hierarchy.
The NDC further urged its supporters to support Dumelo in his campaign to win the seat in the stronghold of the New Patriotic Party. Dumelo expressed his gratitude for the support in a Facebook post, where he also announced his intention to run for the seat again in the 2024 elections.
Fred Nuamah, had withdrawn from the Ayawaso West Wuogon parliamentary primary race. In addition, John Dumelo, his rival in the race, received Nuamah’s support. According to Nuamah, he made the choice after consulting with the relevant parties and without any outside pressure.
