Cecilia Dapaah Scandal;Former minister demands an apology from Joy News for its reporting on frozen accounts

According to reports, the former sanitation minister Cecilia Dapaah had $5 million and GH48 million in her bank accounts. She has demanded an apology from the Multimedia Group. The former minister’s legal team wrote to the media outlet claiming that the reports were false and threatening legal action.

The Multimedia Group, according to Dapaah’s attorneys, disregarded a statement from the Office of the Special Prosecutor asserting that no information had been disclosed. Within three days of the Multimedia Group receiving the letter, she demands an apology.

Investigators tracked $5 million, according to reports from Joy News, and discovered GH48 million in Dapaah’s Prudential Bank accounts. It was also stated that during the search of the former Minister’s Abelemkpe home, the Special Prosecutor discovered US$590,000 and GH2.7 million in cash.

After losing money she claims her house helpers stole, including $1 million, $300,000, and an undisclosed amount of Ghana cedis, Dapaah is the subject of public scrutiny. The then-minister eventually resigned from her position as minister of sanitation as a result of the scandal.
