The International Criminal Police Council (ICPC) has officially released D’Banj.

Three days after being arrested, singer Oladapo Oyebanjo, better known by his stage name D’banj, was released from the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC.

On Tuesday, December 6, D’Banj was arrested after appearing before the commission to answer questions about his alleged role in the fraudulent diversion of funds earmarked by the Federal government for the N-Power project, an empowerment program established by the Nigerian government in 2016 to address youth unemployment and increase social development.

He was questioned for three days, and was finally released on December 9th.
Pelumi Olajengbesi, the singer’s attorney, confirmed his release, saying that the singer was released on self-recognition; however, he did not specify whether the singer was released on self-recognition or administrative bail.

Not a single piece of evidence linking him to any wrongdoing was uncovered. Because he recognized his own guilt, he was freed. As we have always maintained, Dbanj is completely innocent of the charges against him, and as such, we are waiting for a letter of clearance from the ICPC at this time.
