- Kennedy Agyapong says any government that goes to IMF has failed.
- According to him the NPP hasn’t gone to IMF so it hasn’t failed.
- Finance Minister is working hard.
A video of Kennedy Agyapong stating emphatically that any government that goes to IMF has failed pops up.
This comes few hours after a statement issued and signed by the Ministry of Information indicated that the President has authorized Finance Minister to go to IMF.
In the video Mr. Agyapong stated that the New Patriotic Party hasn’t gone to the IMF which is an indication that it hasn’t failed.
According to the statement issued and signed by the Ministry of Information, the decision to go to the IMF follows a telephone conversation between the President and the IMF Managing Director, Miss Kristalina Georgieva, conveying Ghana’s decision to engage with the Fund.
Apparently cabinet met on Thursday 30th June to support the decision to go to the IMF.
The statement added that the engagement with the IMF will seek to provide balance of payment support as part of a broader effort to quicken Ghana’s build back in the face of challenges induced by the Covid-19 pandemic and, recently, the Russian-Ukraine crises.
