FIFA Releases Reports In Responds To Match Duration Extension Reports Of The World Cup In Qatar 2022

FIFA,has released a report in response to the media regarding reports to extend the duration of football matches at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar from the normal 90 minutes to 100 minutes, as part of changes to the Rules of the Game.

However,the football governing body denied the reports,and remained silent as to whether or not there’s going to be such changes in the future.

There was several speculations on Wednesday, April 6th that FIFA had made changes to the duration of the football game, in consideration to allow fans enjoy the game for extra more minutes,than the normal duration of 90 minutes allowed under the Law 7 of the Laws of the Football Game.

The Law 7 of the Laws of the Game states that:
“A match lasts for two equal halves of 45 minutes, which may only be reduced
if agreed between the referee and the two teams before the start of the match
and if in accordance with competition rules”
.

FIFA took to Twitter saying,“Following some reports and rumours spread today, FIFA would like to clarify that there will be no changes to the rules regarding the length of football matches for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 or any other competition”.
