Goil Reduces Fuel By 15P Following Nana Akufo-Addo’s Directive

Following a meeting with Nana Akufo-Addo and the driver unions on Monday 6th December 2021, the Ghana Oil Company (Goil) has reduced fuel by 15 pesewas.

The reduction was effective Tuesday morning after the driver unions and the President arrived at a consensus. A litre of fuel at Goil is now selling at 6 cedis 70 pesewas.

Although Goil has reduced its prices, it’s still unknown as to how long this new prices will be effective.

On Monday, 6th December 2021 some drivers across the country embarked on a sit-down strike as a result of a spike in fuel prices.

Prior to the strike, the various driver unions called on government to reduce the prices of fuel but it all fell on deaf ears. Unable to bear the cost of fuel prices, the drivers decided to drum home their grievances through a strike.

Some parts of Accra including Ashaiman, Lapaz, Madina, Kasoa, Kwame Nkrumah Circle and many other places saw commuters stranded at bus terminals and the street seeking for vehicles to convey them to their various destinations.
