Actress Yvonne Nelson has been awarded GHS500,000 in a defamation case against media personality, Mona Gucci by an Accra High Court on Thursday 2nd December 2021.
Mona Gucci who is a presenter has been ordered by the court presided over by Justice John Eugene Nyante to pay actress Yvonne Nelson an amount of GHS 500,000 and also apologize to her for making a defamatory publication about her.
She has also been restrained from making any more defamatory comment about the mother of one.
In May 2020, Mona while speaking on Accra based Neat FM made a tall list of female Ghanaian celebrities and tagged them as slay queens.
Mona defining who a ‘Slay queen’ is said they are women who usually engage in act of pr0stituti0n and are of loose moral standards.
Mona confidently mentioned actress ‘Yvonne Nelson’ as one of the ‘Slay queens’ on her list while speaking in the interview on Neat FM.
“Yvonne doesn’t show off, but she is a slay because you know the slay queen it entails a lot, we have both showing off and some contacts and people who we know that the things that you do and the lifestyle you exhibit, someone is paying for you behind the scenes,” Mona stated in the interview.
Yvonne’s lawyers wrote to her asking her to retract her comment and also apologized but she refused and rather added more insults to injury hence making the actress to sue her.
