I Almost Stopped Releasing My ‘Faithful’ Song Cos of Fear of Sarkodie-Okyeame Kwame Confesses

Ghanaian rapper affectionately called ‘Rap Doctor’ born Kwame Nsiah-Appau has said that Sarkodie’s speed in the rap business back in the days put so much fear in him to an extent that he almost didn’t want to release one of his songs titled ‘Faithful’.

According to him in an interview on Angel TV, Sarkodie’s impact and presence in the music scene made him fear that when he releases his song it won’t reach the height he expects it to reach.

”At that moment Sarkodie was coming with Hip Hop from my back with such speed that I needed to do something interesting that wasn’t young. So I was switching from a young boy to a man. So when it worked, I was like ”Awurade meda wase” (thank you God)”, Okyeame Kwame revealed.

He further said that releasing ‘Faithful’ at the time was a very dangerous thing to do but he still gathered the courage to do it.

”It was a very dangerous thing to do. Today I don’t even know whether it’s a Highlife song, Hip Hop song or whatever”, he confessed.

The rapper has noted that his song ”Faithful” has won him International awards, nominations and recognitions more than any other of his songs.
