Femi Ghajabiamila, speaker of the House of Representatives has declared the seat of the Akure-South /Akure-North Federal Constituency in Ondo State at the House vacant.
At the plenary on Tuesday Ghajabiamila made declaration that the seat is vacant.
He mentioned that the vacancy was as a result of the death of Adedayo Omolafe, on 16th August 2021.
Ghajabiamila stated that the alert was in fulfilment of Section 68(2) of the 1999 constitution and for records.
The House is therefore required to notify the Independent National Electoral Commission after which the commission will conduct a by-election to fill the vacant seat.
